I've just finished reading (for the second time) the incredible story of Captain Walker in the second world war. It mentions a flotilla chapel at Gladstone Dock where the anti-submarine corvettes were based but, having grown up very close to the dock in the 50s, I'd never heard of it before. I suppose it must have been a temporary structure - perhaps a Nissen hut or a section of warehouse adapted for the purpose - but I'd be interested to hear whether there are memories or photographs or even where it was.

Thanks, Bob. Obviously a temporary building which would be removed at the end of the war. I assume all the plaques and other memorabilia would be scooped up by the navy. Yes, an extraordinary man who was 'passed over' before the war for a 'failure to show leadership'. Nice to have the statue at the pier head.
