Hiya,

My mum was asking for some info about when Bailey Drive was built. It's for house insurance reasons.

It's the block of houses between Pennington Avenue and St John and St James church (formerly known as St Stephens).

Apparently certain parts of the road were built at different times. The rough estimate seems to be around the 1930s from people they have spoken to so far.

If anyone has any info that would be great.

Cheers,

Mack

Cheers Bob,

Just to confirm was that block of housing on the road built in 1938? It's displaying that date next to your photo snippet half way down on the right.

From the 1938 Municipal Engineers meeting.

The council's housing construction program.

Plans for Housing Site No 12, around the Keenan Drive, Smith Drive, Windsor Drive area. (Described as non-parlour houses.)

The photo below includes housing site 12 / Bootle Cemetery /Linacre Lane.

It pre-dates the construction of Orrell Library, which was at the planning stage, and the stretch of Southport Road (upper right) had not been built.
