In linacre lane my earliest memory of being lifted up by him and being placed on a board which was stretched across both of the arm rests. imagine that these days with the H and S brigade he would get well done. I remember one particular time when my face went scarlet when a couple of fleas fell on to the cover. Bless him he didnt scolde about that. When I grew older I moved to GBS barbers ( mr Swalwells inititials ) opposite the North park where Phil and Don cut my hair for many years. They worked for Swalwell as apprentices. I was saddened when I went down for a haircut lately to see a notice saying that they had retired. They were brilliant barbers I hope they have a happy retirement.
