Nicolas, many thanks for posting. The Hillsiders were one of the very best c/w groups ever. Kenny Johnson had a really lovely voice and was legendary in Liverpool. "I've never loved anyone more" had to be my favourite song.

Dan/Henry,
Sounds as though Chris Curtis was a generous person, donating his clothes to others. Wasn't he one of the first to leave the group?

I had my photo took with their 1st gold gold record in our house but left all my photies down strand road when the houses were pulled down to make way for the New Strand and it was the worst thing the council did as all the local community was lost as well as the best shopping Strand road because you could buy anything in their shops

At the Salesian, we once had an hour long lecture from Father Murphy on the disgusting lyrics of

"I'm Into Something Good". He'd play a bit of it, then explain what Herman really meant. Honest.

Just hope you and Ann have been to confession.

That'll be 3 Our Fathers, 3 Hail Marys and 3 Glory Bes.

Ted Knibbs was the manager of Billy J Kramer and The Coasters. He sold the management contract to Brian Epstein for £50.

The other week I came across a whole edition of Melody Maker from June 7 1969.

The front page reminds me of my favourite line from Romancing The Stone.

" Awwh man. The Doobie Brothers have broken up."

Noticed in yesterday's obituaries, Wayne Fontana of "and The Mindbenders" fame died last Thursday.

Hits; Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um (great lyric) and The Game of Love.

He quit and walked off stage in '65 or '66. He was always being asked to sing A Groovy Kind of Love,

but The Mindbinders released that after he left.

Saw him in the Solid Sixties Show , with Marty Wilde, Joe Brown and Jess Conrad at The Empire in the early 90's.

Wayne Fontana 1945 - 2020.

Hi Eddy. Is Brian, the brother of John Mcguirk Sr, from Cedar Street?

Yes Brian lived in Cedar Street and was the brother of John. John was a lovely singer. A lovely family I was always made to feel welcome and always got the offer of a cup of tea and a sandwich. Fond memories of the McGguirk family.

Bootle Times/Crosby Herald/Southport Visitor can be found, on microfilm, at Crosby Library.

Unfortunately, at present, there's no access to the microfilm catalogue due to covid restrictions.

No idea when they will be available.

Very disappointed Shelagh.

I thought you were going to own up to being the girl with the beehive hairdo in the Earl Preston photo.

Reading it back, I realise 'The Girl with the Beehive Hairdo' would have made a great Stieg Larsson novel.

Two disappointments to start the day. Things can only get better.
