Hi I am looking for photos, posters, information relevant to the rock nights staged at Litherland Town Hall particularly in 1960 that can be downloaded and shared. I am new to this group so apologies if items have been previously posted.

Really enjoying this thread. I remember all of the groups, fantastic music. Strangely I never went to the Litherland Town Hall and I actually only lived minutes away on Church Road. I used to go into Liverpool and see many of these groups on various venues. I also went to the Orrel Park Ballroom, however only went once and a fight broke out...….never went again...…….. I was fortunate to see the Beatles twice at the Empire, could not hear a thing but had a great time I remember the Escorts, the Dennisons Earl Prestons Realms, Rory Storm, Clayton Squares and so many more. Some of the very best music was produced in the 60`s, what a fantastic era

Dan, thanks for posting these pictures. My favourites used to be "The Escorts", they played every Tuesday at the Mardi Gras. A couple of years ago Terry Sylvester a former member of the Escorts was playing solo at the Hershey Centre, not far from were I live in Canada. He sang a lot of the Hollies hits, and is still a great singer and musician. Another Liverpool singer was on, but cannot for the life of me remember his name. He used to sing "Little Children", anyway whatever his name is, he was crap!! Peter Noone was also on, but his performance was not as good as Terry Sylvesters!! Liverpool produced so many talented groups. The Clayton Squares, another fantastic group who had a great saxophonist. I could go on forever...….

That's him Henry, Billy J Kramer. His performance was awful, he could not sing in tune, it was really sad.

I have never heard of the group The Strangers. It sounds as though they were really popular. Did the Merseybeats ever play Litherland Town Hall? Another great Liverpool group.

The first interview, reported in Record Collector of March 1998.
The second is a transcript from Spencer Leigh's " On The Beat" broadcast on April 13 2003 on BBC Radio Merseyside.

Chris gave the suit he was wearing in the top photo to my older brother, who passed it on to me. Best suit I've ever had.
