"I lived at 2 Hawthorne Avenue Bootle at my grandmothers home in 1956 before migrating to Australia. It’s no longer listed as a Avenue only Hawthorne Road. Does anyone know if Hawthorne Avenue’s name has been changed or what has happened to it.

Found this on the Old maps of Liverpool Historic Liverpool site. It was posted in April 14 and no one has replied. I wonder if we could help him. I've looked in "Signposts" and it is not mentioned.

Looking at Jan's map reminds me that there were some prefabs around about where Hawthorne Ave is shown. As prefabs weren't built until after 1945 that could account for it's absence from the 1938 directory. Pretty sure they were all gone by the 70s.
