Thanks Ken. I think this might be it but I'm no Bill Gates. Can all the football lads sign it? I'm told that Chaffers in Waterloo would also go under these plans. I bet none of the Highways England people live round here........

Cheers lads for signing. I think the young kids should have the same (albeit basic) amenities as we had. Bob, I would imagine that in the Highways England utopia of Church Road could look like that even with a tunnel under it?

We know that rimrose valley was built on the tip , froggy meadows
just imagine what is buried there over 50 years of unlicenced tipping
is the railway line from antree container depot still in use????
this might help ,to lose buckley hill pitchs where i scored hatricks every game
is this progress ,the youth of today need help, to close down footy pitchs is wrong

Bob the track bed is still there, it connects with the line into Aintree station, there is supposed to be some legislation that it has to be preserved in case there is ever a need to transport anything to do with the nuclear industry to or from Cumbria and Liverpool docks.
The answer is in place right now and it is the railway that cuts across the dock road behind the old Bootle Hospital, it could be used to take containers to a purpose built container terminal anywhere in the North West, and there is enough room at the old Church Street goods depot to store containers that would be destined for in and around Liverpool.
Ideally would have been the railway that ran over Rimrose Rd by the kiosk, but they have now built new houses on the track that run alongside Akenside Street.

My dad drinks in the Mayflower on a Friday evening, with his brother Paddy, both still going strong...often talks about Boston - Tucker Caldwell, Tucker Colton, Joe Moran, Eric Davies, Mikey Rimmer and of course his brothers, just to name a few..henry wrote:When I lived down strand road the Reardons lived in Carolina street and knew Jim and all the brothers and he would be in his late 70s I also knew his sisters and if I am right it would be PATRICK or Alex or Tony who would be him in the Mayflower and Jim was a great little winger when he played for Boston unitedCOLLY wrote:jimbo can be found in the mayflower pub with his brother on sunday nights , he did go to the windham but thats closed down nowfilsgreen wrote:Thanks Henry, but I don't really know anything about the JOC; I was asking about Jim Reardon on a personal level. I used to know Jim and his mother Annie, they both lived 31 Hackett Avenue in the sixties. The last time I saw Jim was in the Linacre Pub around 2000, he must be in his late 60's now. Jim used to be a mechanic and at that time; he said he lived in Aughton Road. I'd like to catch up with him again.
Good to read some of the memories, he has a lot himself...
