Hi Annie

Hope you are well.

Yes I know what you mean about the number of posts we're getting now. We'll have to rename it "The Big Bootle Brain", as it's like every single memory from Bootle is getting stored online here.

Great stuff.

Arrr, that's nice John.

I have only lived in Bootle for 4 years, so it's great seeing everyone on here and their memories and stories are brilliant.

I am trying to persuade some of my neighbours to get a computer, I have told them about the site and the great people on here, I am sure more old friends and family would get to find each other.

I will have to have a chat with some of the more mature neighbours and get their stories and memories, and ask their permission to post them on here of course.

I may have a possible solution. Can't promise anything yet.

Will post back soon if I can do the upgrade and keep us online.

It is extremely complicated updating a web server configuration for a web forum.

Everything will change if it works. Some things may break too.

I'm a one man band here resolving issues.

If we go offline on the 31st of December then all I can say 'Thank you very much... Mack has left the building'...

Good luck Mack, and if all fails we just want to say a huge thank you for everything you have done, if it wasn't for the Bootle Forum, Ricky and I would not have got together again. Hopefully it will all work out for you and if not, well you gave the forum your all. Best wishes for the future Mack. :D

Hi gang,

I'm hoping we can do the update 22:00 GMT Sunday 24th of November 2019.

I'm anticipating a down time period so please be patient. Not sure how long yet at this time.

It will probably involve testing and re-testing until the site is back online properly.

Stay tuned... and remember the date 22:00 GMT Sunday 24th of November 2019.

It may or may not be successful so testing is important.

Mack, I wish you every success with securing the continued running of the forum. We all have so much to thank you for, whether we're regular posters or just like to keep in touch with what everyone is up to. At times you've shown great patience in dealing with the odd "stirrer" but always managed to resolve any issues fairly. You're brilliant Mack, I should have told you before. I hope your efforts in keeping the forum running works.

Mac,
Like many readers/users and people born and bred in Bootle Village (but well travelled), I find the Bootle History Website informative and entertaining on many subjects, including: old friends and relatives, social history, engineering, the Pier Head and the docks, transport, education, industrial heritage, building developments, art/music culture and beyond. No mean achievement and wonderful integration of diverse aspects.

Many thanks for such an impressive and diverse website.

Well done.

Cheers gang.

I'm bringing in some help from a guy called 'Mark Hamill' - Not actually Luke Skywalker to help with this.

Mark... if you are tuning into this thread at this time - See you on the other side after completion.

Fingers crossed all goes well.

Stay tuned everyone... We are going to be testing...

Hi Mack

Hope all goes well tomorrow.
Many thanks for all you do to enable all site members and visitors to keep in touch
with what's going on (and past times) in our home town of Bootle. Although I don't post a lot
I do really enjoy looking in on a regular basis. Many feel like friends I've yet to meet. Dave s

Good luck for Sunday Mack! I really do not envy you as so many people are in for a miserable Christmas if things do not go as planned...….. no pressure :)
Please remember to tell us the cost of putting this all together so we can contribute. If things do not work out, many, many thanks for your hard work over the years. It is very much appreciated.
