Great North Run.

Postby BossHogg » Sat Aug 13, 2016 10:20 pm

I've recently lost over 6 stone in weight! In a moment of madness, I signed up to take part in the Great North Run half marathon! I've been a British Red Cross first aid volunteer for over 23 years, so I thought I would raise some money for the organisation that has been a large part of my life for nearly a quarter of a century. The race is four weeks tomorrow, I can't believe I've raised over £900 and still have plenty of time to raise more.

Sounds good to me, as a charity runner, I get a sports massage on completion of the race.

Well done on the 6st weight loss B.H. also sponsorship of £900 is fantastic..Red Cross a very worthy cause!!
The Great North run...to my mind..one of the best..ordinary folk raising money for charity!!
Son-in-law and his mates (all from Newcastle) ran the race a few years ago..and between them managed to raise thousands for a childrens cancer charity!!
Best wishes to you B.H. (shall look forward to seeing the race on T.V.) :D

Cheers guys, nervous and excited all at the same time! I'm usually part of the first aid team on the finishing line. My Red Cross colleagues don't know I'm running, they'll get a shock when I cross the finishing line as a competitor!

The time is almost up so come on rabble, get down the back of the sofa and look for the loose change, just over 36 hours till I run myself into the ground, it'll be on telly, so it should give you a good laugh  - if you laughed, why don't you donate, you know you want to!

Thanks Tom and Good luck, you've inspired me to start jogging again and get in shape. I'm able to start my training indoors, thanks to Ricky and Loretta, who have sold me a Treadmill at a very reasonable price :)
