Female and male Black headed Grosbeaks at our suet feeder Nicer coloured male on his own. Northern Flicker, a type of woodpecker, found an ants nest full of eggs in our gravel path I had to take the pictures through our dining room window because I didn't want to scare the birds off. Matt

Lovely Jay Patricia. Our Provincial bird is a jay but it is a Steller's Jay. At the moment the jays are in higher country but when they come down to the bird sanctuary 100 metres from our house I will have to get some photos but I must say your blue jays are a much more colourful and beautiful bird than our jays. Matt
A friend gave us this ceramic bird house years ago and it stayed empty until 4 weeks ago. Waiting for mum or dad Here he/she comes But I want more!! Bewick wrens. The male has three nests going at the same time.I have two more in the garden shed. poor little fella. He needs to getaway from all these females kids and nookie Matt
Matt - Don't know about "Getting Away!" believe he is in his element with his own Harem! Doves are another lot that breed like Rabbits! Believe every hanging basket we have is occupied by Doves! They don't seem to care whether it is artificial or real flowers in the basket which surprised me.
Great photo Patricia. All the young wrens are taking it in turn to perch on the edge of the nest and flap their wings guess they will be taking their first flights soon plus we have two new baby Anna's hummingbirds at our feeders. They just look like big bumblebees.I just cannot believe some of our birds are still breeding.Saw my first Steller's Jay today but that was up at Kalika and Chad's house and where they live is about 700 metres higher in elevation than the rest of the Cowichan Valley. Took the Grandchildren to the Virginia Science Museum never realized how big it was, we walked for ever but saw so much. Here is a Turkey showing off to his harem who were taking absolutely no notice of his exhibition!!

My last unit in the Military Police, before leaving for civvy street, was Fallingbostel. Fally was the rail head where thousands were dropped off and forced to walk the 30km to Belsen Death Camp where they were exterminated.
