One of my favorite photos Keith
Some info Linacre lane was one of the oldest roads in Bootle
it first had a swing bridge over the canal
the pub was rebuilt in 1890ish on top of the old pub
then linacre lane was raised for the bridge and the old pub basement was the cellar and tiolets
New street was behind the linacre and then the corpy depot
when you where in the corpy yard you could see the old foundations
it was my local and my dads spent many happy nights getting drunk

My Granddad was the manager of the Linacre Pub. I loved going there in my childhood. He told me that it was a pub built on top of a pub. Hence-going down to the cellar for gents toilet.
Cheers Joe.
