He could be the cheap option, Eddy. Moshiri threw big money at Koeman, allegedly, £6 million the get him away from Southampton. The managers take the hit for poor choice of players, the owners just take a hit in the pocket for poor choice of managers. Eddy Howe might be tempted, he’s an EFC fan and must have greater ambition than Bournemouth. Ken

TV last might gave a short list of four. Of them Big Sam seemed the best choice to me but he said a while ago he wasn't interested in club football.

We have a dilemma on Merseyside. You have a decent team but need good players. We have good players but need a team

Re EFC, Ernie, Phil Neville, Giggs, Dych , Allardyce , Howe, Ancelotti , Tuchel all mentioned as well as Unsworth. I don’t seriously think Moyes is in the frame but first job is to stabilise things. Fortunately it’s earlier enough in the season to recover form and get to safety. Ken

Much better second half, how it should be. That and U17s win made for a good day.
Off to Brighton v Southampton at Amex Stadium now with Grandsons , one Brighton, one Saints supporter. :D Ken

Brighton v Southampton
Poor game but I had a good look at Van Dijk. He’s a composed talented footballer.
Good in the air, comfortable with the ball, reads the threats well with good distribution.
He holds the back line very well and is very vocal to his other defenders.
A classy, if a bit casual player. He wilted towards the end , no doubt due to his long lay off but would be an asset to LFC given our central defence issue. Ken

Would like to have seen Robertson, Grujic and Solanke start but they are on the bench.
Sturridge needs a run as well, also benched  Ken

Switched this load of dross off after half an hour, now watching Spurs v Real Madrid, which is a different class of football altogether.

A very disgruntled

Should have stuck with it Bill. Two very nice goals and a Sturridge typical one. Ken

Ken,I would have fallen asleep watching all that sideways and backward passing. There is absolutely no movement from the Liverpool players, they just stand still waiting for a pass that is usually behind them anyway.

Who is going to take the penalties now?
Firmino, Salah, Milner all failed recently .

Moreno can hit them but they could end up over the stand, maybe TAA if on the pitch.

I thought we had centre back issues but watching the Blues tonight, young Holgate had a mare and wasn’t helped by Williams being AWOL when needed to help and guide the lad. K

Would clubs like Palace or West Ham have him back Eddy, maybe his options are more limited than we know? Maybe a temporary job across the park would suit him. Ken

Just mentioned on the Blues thread, a West Ham pal reckons Dyce to EFC this week, Allardyce to Burnley and Moyes to West Ham after Bilic gets the chop tomorrow. Ken

Moyes confirmed at West Ham. Quick decision by the owners not greatly welcomed by fans.
He will do a job no doubt but the Hammers footballing tradition might go out the window  K

Football traditions are gone, Ken, Sky dictates what football is. Football, as you and I perceive it died in 1992. :(

The stuff City play, perhaps Spurs and occasionally Liverpool gives me hope Phil.
Sky & BT are just the vehicle, the Premier League clubs and their mostly foreign owners are the real culprits. K

Only a 6 month contract for Moyes at West Ham - slightly surprising!

Yep , Irons that’s what the real fans call their team.
My mate who is in a wheelchair travels to each home game from Devon. Train to Paddington then tube to the stadium. He reckons he’s got the best seat on the house with much superior facilities to Upton Park. That’s dedication, so for him I hope they stay up. K

England v Brazil - Joe Gomez , Man of the Match, played very well, kept Neymar out.
Solanke got on and had a chance to win it.
Coutinho and later Firmino did nothing for Brazil.
A very gritty defensive display by a very young England, promising :D Ken

I think Henry should be England manager and Southgate should become a gambler. Neither are much good at what they are doing at the moment?? :D :D :D
