You got most of it correct Ken. It was DELAG and it was formed by Von Zeppelin in 1909
As a side Ken pity MacBlo is not around anymore they would have sorted out the USA on their tariffs on our BC timber
and stopped exporting raw logs to the mills in Oregon and Washington State.
You to go Ken.

Metric, about 14 Kgs including the tank. A similar question came up on our cruise quiz so hope I'm close as I was way off on that one. Ken

Lets start at the very beginning
a very good place to start(in the words of Julie Andrews)
Cubic Feet
A cubic measurement is the three-dimensional derivative of a linear measure, so a cubic foot is defined as the volume of a cube with sides 1 ft in length.

Trying to remember what i learnt at school.a cubic foot of water is 60lbs so 3 must be 180lbs.i think.graham.

I don't know the answer .. not sure I even know the question but seems to me that the answer shoud be more than anything so far suggested.
Looking at a 4 pint bottle of milK I'm sure there must be at least 8 or 9 of them to the cubic foot.... say 4.5 galls per cu ft.
Now, I'm not sure if the Q is about 3 cu ft or 3 ft cubed (1 cu yard)
If 3 cu ft then tank contains about 4,5 X3 gallons which = 108 pints. 1 pint of water weighs 20 oz so 108 x20 =2160 oz =135lbs
If it's a cubic yard tank then it's 3 times that so about 29 stones

That took so long to write that Graham has posted since I started writing - his answer sounds closer than the others

Thank goodness Graham.I was beginning to think I had the question wrong!
I did say an approx.weight.I think you are off by a couple of pounds.Water could be dirty.
6.2 gallons to the cubic foot.1 gallon fresh water 10bs approx
You to go Graham.

I bet you were a wiz at working out board footage because of your job Ken well I was good at
working out water volumes, weights etc cos I was the person in charge of the fresh water onboard
the last sub I was on and all those figures had to be entered in for the trim of the submarine.
(The only thing I am still good at  )

I'm back home, Bee and it's a great morning. My question is, how many horses finished the race in the 2006 Grand National?
