Does any of the members remember Bootle South Boys Club Brasenose Road. It
was opened in the early 60's about the same time as Brunswick Boys Club Marsh Lane.

I went to Bootle Technical College in Balliol Road in 1972 and every Friday we played five a side in Bootle South Boys Club. I recall walking under the old railway bridge to get to it. Happy days they werenicenanny1 wrote:Does any of the members remember Bootle South Boys Club Brasenose Road. It

Alan what a shame that you didn't name this nice girl you danced with.
To remember her was indeed a compliment but to remember the tune you danced to was incredible.
Wonder does nobody else have memories of events such as this.
Sorry to have gone off thread but couldn't resist a mention.
Marie.

We used to play against the Bootle South Boys club and played in 5 a side comps there when I played for the Brunswick Boys Club. I also played for the L.B.A. representative team, a good goalkeeper called Jimmy (can't remember his surname) from Bootle South also played for the L.B.A.

I think Frankie Vaughan opened the club but don't remember the year.

I used to go to the Bootle South and enjoyed the disco's on a Sunday evening.
Nicenanny1, I think you're right about Frankie Vaughan as I recall a photo in the foyer of him doing the official opening. I think he was a great supporter of "boy's clubs" as they were known.
Years later I worked in that building when it was Watson's Computer Services.

I lived in Exeter Road and went to the Bootle South in the late 60`s.
As far as my memory serves me it was run by a youth leader by the name of Dave Leslie a Scotsman with a hippy type beard.
Memories of the disco and being a shy teenage boy come flooding back, happy times spent there for about 4 or 5 years of my young life.
