Joe,

Thanks for posting the pictures of the three watches from BFB in 1974 - the men my dad always referred to as "The best little fire brigade in the land", many of whom I remember, and some of whom I had the honour and pleasure to have served with.

Thanks again, and keep the pictures coming!

Frank,

Yes, my dad was ADO Tom Royle, who joined BFB in 1946 and served up to his death in 1973.
A Manchester man, who became a true "buck"!
I guess you are ex-BFB , Frank ? Any chance of identifying the crew on the picture of the Gladstone Dock job ? If you can't help, I'll ask my mum next time I'm back in UK! She's 93 now, but still remembers all of "the lads".
Best wishes from Poland,
Robin (ex 1607 MFRS)

Frank,
For sure next time I'm over I'll drop in to Bridle Road.
I've recently been in touch with Peter O'Donnell who was talking to my brother when he donated my dad's 'hard hat' to the Heritage Centre.
Stay safe, and keep on posting!

Frank,

It was a great pleasure to visit the MFRS Heritage Centre - very interesting both for myself and my Mum. For the benefit of all Forum members, I will repeat what I said to you and your colleagues on the day. The MFRS Heritage Centre is a fantastic educational resource which should be (and can be) accessed by all schools and other groups / individuals in the area. It is a very interesting means of accessing a part of the history of the Liverpool City Region - you don't have to be especially of a Fire Service background. Best wishes to you and all the other volunteers, I'll be back next time I'm in UK! Robin.

Hi Frank (and Joe Mackenzie and all the other volunteers).

A couple of things from my latest wander through this thread.
1) Gladstone dock 1966, is the young fireman on the left the ever-immaculate Billy Monaghan? Maybe Mick Barton could confirm ?
2) Seeing the photograph of Cecil Monk's funeral brought back memories of my dad's Fire Service funeral, which made our family very proud in the terrible circumstances of his sudden death.

Keep on doing what you're doing!
Best wishes from Poland,

Robin
