Thats when the crew of a vessel all chipped in whatever money they had to buy the ale. Usually done on a cargo hatch, as in the olden days they were covered with tarpaulin sheets.
The best thing about being over the hill is that now I can have some fun and free-wheel down the other side. LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL.

Scotty & Bill you'r both correct it was the 10th of October 1958 but with 2 Comet 4s London/New York and visa versa the plane from New York was flown in on a long route to avoid the Atlantic so the two could pass each other this all came about as Pan Am had boasted thy would be the first to do it with thier Boeing 707 that flight took place 2 weeks later

Think they may have been Olympic & Brittanic
If I'm correct, I don't know their fates without googling and that would be cheating.

To avoid cheating I've just asked H - he thinks that the Olympic may have been torpedoed in WW1 - doesn't know about the Brittanic but has an idea she was scrapped.
Edit to say that H has just told me that he was wrong about that; was thinking of the Lusitania .
Another related bit of trivia for you; when looking at old postcards and photos people often mistake the Olympia for the Titanic, do you know how to tell them apart?

Lily that sounds like an example of "the previous question"lily8 Posted:
Have hesitated answering Beejs question as awaiting an answer to original question, following protocol win the question entitles the next question have I got that right??
I think protocol went out of the window when JJ set his queston without answering one and then Bill set a further one when Scotty had already asnwered correctly. Mine's more of a side bar.
Bern; no, not funnels.

Bee I did confirm an answer to a question I set last night then set another however as nobody has got beyond the names the fates were as follows Brittanic was sunk due to hitting a mine when she was a hospital ship in WW1 and the Olympic went for scrapping in the late 20s early 30sbjones wrote:Lily that sounds like an example of "the previous question"lily8 Posted:
