my uncle joined the Royal Merchant Navy as a kid and was on many destroyers during the war.....today he is in a home at the age of 91 in Bootle

Pamsy lovely photo I guess your uncle would have been at the naval training school HMS Drake if so he may be interested in this link:

Thank you Lily but it's a subscription site and I can get info from the ancestry site....my uncle Tom is in a nursing home and isn't capable of going to the site himself....but interesting...I will hold on to it incase I need to join it

Hi Pamsy,it's an offshoot of "friends reunited" and does'nt cost a penny to join.Found a few of my old mates on there within 1 day of joining.

I looked up HMS Drake there are no former ratings signed up, who served prior to the 1960s...

Thanks Dave....will check this out for sure....sad thing is he is now 91 and his pals are probably all gone who survived the war....but was doing it incase someone knows of him, a child of one of his mates, etc....

I worked with Tommy Rigg at the English Electric,Netherton. He lived in Toronto for a few
years. Good workmate with a nice quiet sense of humour.

that's my uncle Tom...he now resides on Moss Lane in a home....Assisted Living....he is 91yrs....
