my family the woccos lived in salisbury road but the house was blitzed during the war and the rag yard DOLBY'S went on the site right next door to the rileys my grandfather was on the s s carpathia which went to the titanic aid and the medal he got from white star line for picking up the bodies was in that house be worth a shilling or two now me dad stayed in bootle most of the family went to huyton next door was a public library and bathing baths and it was used as a mortuary during the may blitz and got a direct hit

great that had many a good time in there. peter christian was the first manager when i started drinking there about 79 then neil and gwynne took over people came from eveywhere on a sunday for a stay behind. then philly and peter carragher had two stints running the pub again it was bouncing bands like soundtrax, peter sheils and the wheels played of a weekend and the great black velvet band sundays and mad mondays
