Looking for old photos from Park Grove or Park Street for my wife June who's maiden name was Goulborne and went to Christ Church and Balliol Road Schools.

I've been searching for a group of photographs which I am sure were posted on this site somewhere. There is a view of Park Grove taken across Park Street, probably from the end of Garden Lane (now Caspian Place, I think). If I find them, I will post it. I am only just a bit older than June, by the looks of it, but I don't recall the name Goulborne and I went to different schools.
Lived in Garden Lane Bootle then moved to Netherton, where my mum still lives.

That's the one I was looking for, Bob. I will save it. happy memories. I used to roller skate across that bit of road at the end of Garden lane because it was smooth. Not sue how happy the people living there would have been, the wheels were metal!!

Hi Everyone. Re Mill Lane: we lived at 15. Next door to Mrs Blackburn (mid 60's until compulsory purchase in 1972). Our nan also lived here at no7. I have some pictures of my uncle Roy outside no 9 with my grandad. The cottages were rendered when we were there and we had privets and a little fence at the front (I don't recall any of the fronts being in a poor state of repair like in this photo) The shot is taken looking toward 'little' Brookhill Rd with the back of Park Street barracks on the left. My mum's friends Sisters Barbara and Lyn Hunter lived in Well Lane Gdns and my godmother Violet Lane lived in Recreation St.

Great photo Bernie, the yard you can see was or still is John Cothliff (Park Pl) the plasterer and floor screeding company they were established over 100, years ago. I wonder if they are still going.
Cheers Joe.

Thanks for that pic. Our cottage was about where the trees are now. On the right of the image is what once was the back of the army barracks. The wall you can see now is the rear of a sheltered accommodation called Mill Spring Court in Park Street.
The 'little' Mill Lane always appeared as unoccupied (unadopted?). The new house you can see now at the top is one of several new houses built on what was Christ Church junior ochool playground.
I believe there is another thread about Mill Lane on BT. Thanks again

Cags, was Mrs Blackburn's husband called Bob or Robert ? What was Mrs Blackburn name.
My Mother , from Brookhill Road had relatives, an Uncle I believe, who lived in the cottages. I have a very dim memory of a gas light and those sticky things hanging down to catch flies. A nice lady I remember.
Regards
Ken

She was a widow when we were there. Had her bed in downstairs in the front room and she let us play dress up in her old hats and clothes. my nan, or my mum would plate up an extra dinner sometimes for her. She seemed very old to us at the time (late 60's). Some other older kids would try to convince us she was a witch - the little horrors! But we didn't care. She used to make us sugar or bovril butties and we would run errands to the Dairy (Mrs Blackwells shop) I remember asking for x2 thin slices of boiled ham, we also used to be able to buy loose oxo's. Those were the days eh?

took in Lodgers Robert Blackburn and Emily Grey Blackburn.
The 1938/9 Voters showed they were still there at number 13, after Sarah Green's Death in 1931

We moved to Netherton our house backed on to the playing fields of Countess of Derby. Mum thought we were too 'remote' after living in Bootle village? So we moved back to Essex Way (formerly Essex Street) in 1979.

Anyone remember the spooky photo below in a previous thread when we were all talking about it and how we could all see faces and ghostly images in the pic?
I was being a bit cheeky at the time and done a bit of Photoshopping to the original photo...

I do. Amazing how many users could see the Bootle Turin among the washing.
I'm convinced I saw a ghost at no 15. An old lady in white standing at the foot of the bed where me and my sister slept. Mum used to tuck us in so tight, we didn't move until time to get up. No one believed me? But then again I did see Father Christmas when we lived there too!
