Bob, The Timber Frame of the 80's does not compare to modern day kit. I was involved at that time and the quality and site skills were very poor. Controls are much tighter nowadays and the understanding of the system much better. Ken

Wow what an improvement! The old Hillside laundry was an eye sore even 45 years ago when I lived in the neighbourhood. I take it they back on to the old railway embankment and front on to the rear of Gray St school. Once the school area is redeveloped there's likely to be more new than old property in the triangle bounded by Knowsley Rd, Akenside and Gray Streets.
Thanks Bob - great to see how the neighbourhood look now.

Hi, My daughter has moved into one of these new houses, and they are lovely, they are that well insulated, she has not had to have any heating on, I know its summer, but we have had some quite cold nights, and they are well soundproofed.

Hi everyone ,
I'm not sure where this new build is---I always remember The big railway bridge at Akenside st and Hornby rd -a massive "SKEW" brick built bridge-is it still there ? if so have a look at and marvel at the work .

Thanks for the pictures Bob, perhaps a bit off topic but as said I always used to look at the brickwork and wondered how them long gone lads did it -no fancy scaffolding -no "Cherrypickers"---WOW, over its life carried millions of tons of goods on thousands of trains. Trains from Aintree via Ford to Ex.change crossed this bridge
I also remember a story that a fellow had drowned under this bridge having ridden into flood water on his bike.
Regards
Peter
