Thomas Wilson Canal Street
Yes Paul, they moved there from St Anne Street. It was those big warehouses next to the chicken factory, over the road from Lockwoods. Friday lunchtime always spent shopping in those places. Ken

Joe,
You have posted some good stuff, I have enjoyed this video a few times, when I remember to look at it.
Its a bonus being in colour mate, that was the original plea from me for local firms livery colours.
I know most photo's will be in b/w but if people ex drivers an help with the livery it would be great for my modelling project.
Cheers Joe

When i was 15 worked for BRS (contracts) Ford St Vauxhall Rd.In the office. We have number of motors painted in livery of the company that it was on hire to.I loved the picture of the Griddle motor.when we were kids used to jump on the back as they came up Selwyn St by the Princess cinema and got brown sugar out of the sacks on the backand pluged the hole wth a pencil. The motor could only do about 5 MPH up the hill. The nick name was Pxssing Billys .

If my memory is right Arthur V Crutchley Co Ltd was on Strand Road, next too George’s paper shop opposite the Darby arms pub, there was an entrance to the yard on Irlam Road as well. I think they had dark blue E.R.F.s.

Thanks for that Dave, and no I don’t a secret stash, I should have one though as I was lorry driver and worked for loads of firms good and bad over the years. And driven some sheds in my time if only we had the technical knowledge that they have these days.
Cheers Joe.
