Nice pics Bob. Remind me, was Recreation Street behind Brookhill Road?
I recall a little park with a round paddling pool. Mind you I was 4 when we moved to Ford in 1952. Ken

I remember playing in a little park in Recreation Street, with a round paddling pool. Is that the same one? It was all concreted over, so heaven help you if you fell off anything! My aunt Maude lived in recreation Street. I used to go there to play then see my auntie (great aunt, really, my Nan's sister) and her husband, uncle John. It was closer to home than the Derby Park, my other great adventure in those days. One thing we didn't lack in those days was places to play in.
Lived in Garden Lane Bootle then moved to Netherton, where my mum still lives.

Here's your Park. My godmother lived in Recreation St (Violet Lane nee Kemp?) and a friend/neighbour Joan Connolly

Just had a closer look at the flicker photos. Yes, that was the Bootle Cenenary celebrations in Recreation St park. Spotted my friend Joan Connolly. Joan lived in a flat below me in Netherton. Sadly, she passed away a little while back, way before her time. Lovely, lovely lady
I know my mum had some pics of the party we attended in little Brookhill Rd. I would only have been 4. I'll see if I can find any and try to post?

Thanks, CAGS. It's too long ago to remember any names, but I remember the insides of the houses well. They were more like cottages, really and I was fascinated by the fact that the stairs were in the living room.

Bob - Surprise, surprise, glad you revived this link. I have never noticed it before but
looking at the link that Bob posted I noticed a photo of the Mayor & Mayoress of Bootle.
A chap I was dating at the time, his brother was married to their daughter, a beautiful
girl. I often wonder what happened to them all??

Bob, was he into ballroom dancing? I believe the name of their daughter
was Dorothy but I'm not sure, do you know when their Butcher shop closed?
Funnily enough, I met her brother in law at Connie Millingtons, he was also
taking lessons there. My parents really liked him and had high hopes that we
would continue dating!
