Street location

I have a marriage certificate (copy) with a street named Barnton Street.The marriage was at St Andrews Church Bootle and is dated 1930 Does anyone have any ideas of its location? Many Thanks JOHN L

From my 1906 map of Bootle, Barnton Street was between Webster Street and the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. It looks like it doesn't exist anymore, as a current map has St Elizabeth's RC Primary School at the same location. If you go to where the junction of Webster Street meets Blisworth Street, then Barnton Street was almost dead opposite. Hawthorne Tannery was on the opposite side of the canal to Barnton Street.

Looks like the name lived on as there is a Barnton Close on the other side of the canal on a current map.

Literally a few roads away from St Andrews Church as St Andrews Road is just off this section of the map; you can just see it in the middle of the pic.

Thank you Bob and Gaz, good stuff, well done helping our lister!! Street is also listed in 1911 Gores/Kelly's Directory, perhaps John's people may be there?? T.S :D

Hi Everyone
In 1911 John Brimage and his family lived at 36 Barnton Street along with his mother in law Mary Elizabeth Leatham.
