Does anyone know of a Home for Catholic priest's in Bootle ?

The reason I ask is; a relative of my wife was a Catholic priest posted to Burma during the 2nd world war, he was captured by the Japanese and put in a concentration camp, after the war on his return to England he was put in a mental institute due to his condition, after his release from the Institute he was sent to a home for priest's in Bootle where he saw the rest of life out.
Any clues to the name or location of this home would be appreciated.

Hi John,

Could you give a name for your wife's relative please? If you know when this relative died, perhaps a copy of his death cert would give an address where he died, and the name of the informant. That is all I can think of as maybe a way of finding out.

Hope that helps.

Hi John. It may be worth contacting the Archdiocese of Liverpool's main office based at the Centre for Evangelisation (known as LACE).

LACE, Croxteth Drive, Sefton Park, Liverpool, L17 1AA. 0151 522 1000 webmaster@rcaol.co.uk
Good luck. Dave s

Hi John,

I have found a baptism for Michael Joseph Redmond born November 1904, birth registered first quarter 1905 West Derby

Here are the baptism details,

Name:
Michael Joseph Redmond
Birth Date:
26 Nov 1904
Baptism Date:
4 Dec 1904
Parish:
Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, Lancashire, England
Father's name:
Thomae Redmond
Mother's name:
Mariae Annae Noon

On the actual image of the baptism record, there is a note in the column, but it is all in Latin, which I don't understand very well, but it mentions 2nd Dec 1934, it could also say ordained on this date and year. If anyone can understand Latin, it may prove to be the baptism of your wife's relative.

The only death registered that matches the date of birth is this one registered in Sutton Greater London

Date of Registration:
Mar 1974
Age at Death:
69
Registration district:
Sutton
Inferred County:
Greater London
Volume:

Here is the birth registration which could suggest that Michael was born late 1904 but registered 1905.

Name:
Michael Joseph Redmond

Jan-Feb-Mar
Registration district:
West Derby

I am unable to find Michael on the 1911 census (at the moment).

:D

I have found Michael on the 1911 census, surname was transcribed as Remond. He is with his mother Mary Ann age 43
sister Margaret age 17, brother Thomas age 15, sister Sarah age 10, then Michael is listed age 6. brother Gerard age 1. Michael Noon age 45. he is listed as brother-in law, but he is Mary Ann's brother.

They were living at 126 Heyworth Street, Everton. All above born Liverpool.

Could it possibly be the Priests retirement home in Ince Blundell.

Used to visit often, in the 1960's when Cannon Taylor was staying there.

Ex parish Priest of Saint Richards, Miranda Road, .Bootle.

Marie.

Before St Winifred's Church and adjacent buildings for members of the clergy were built, on Oriel/Merton Road, at least two priests lived in a house in St Edmunds Road. I recall the house was at the top of St Edmunds Road; Pembroke Road End. This was in the 1950's when the land the church was eventually built on was derelict after the houses that stood there originally were destroyed by German bombing. That was one of our 'playgrounds' until they built the church!

I believe Ince Blundell Hall in Crosby was the retirement place of many Catholic priests
