Thomas James Bond and wife Mary, nee Leicester, emigrated to Australia in 1922. His parents were Richard Wensley Bond and Mary , nee Thompson.Thomas's brothers were William Charles and Richard Willoughby and sister Dorothy Annie Bond. They lived in Keble Road, Gloucester Road and St John's Road. Thomas went to sea as a marine engineer for AC Hay and Smart.. His granddaughter in Australia would love to hear from anyone who knew the family, particularly what Thomas did prior to leaving England. If anyone else is researching this family, I would love to share information. Does anyone have a photo of the original St John's church, where they were christened and the original St Mary's?

Hi Woody and welcome I am sorry I can't help with personal memories and I don't know what information your contact has but if we can help with family history we will. I have a copy of Thomas' merchant navy records which includes a photo happy to post for you if wanted. The details given show a couple of trips as 3rd engineer in 1919. Thomas' father Richard was born in Lecarrow Roscommon Ireland and was a master mariner I can post his qualification record if wanted also some other Irish records.
Cheers

Oh my god, yes I used to live in Keble Road. I had researched the history of the house going back to the 1880's, it was only through another neighbour at the time who had the deeds to their house that I was able to find the name(s) of the builders, they were two brothers (both Welsh) who built them between 1882 and 1883, the house was listed in the Liverpool directories from 1884 onwards.

Thomas James Bond married Mary Leicester at St Mary's Waterloo in 1917. It appears that Mary may have been married before. this is the marriage details on Lancashire BMD.

Hi again I don't know if your contact requires any further family history however for what it is worth Richard Wensley Bond was also a mariner(in fact I believe from a long line of mariners) born in what looks like Lecarrow or Lecarron Ireland who was bound (indentured) to Mr Robert Cook McNaughton aged 15years on 30/5/1878 for a period of 4 years. Richard then went on to obtain his Masters certificate 1/12/1894. Should your contact wish to follow the line back please advise.
A search of the Bond name in Lecarrow indicates that the family were landowners and clergymen of course your contact may have this info
