I'm hoping to find information with regards to a relative, Ernest Bill who was killed in WW1. I believe he attended Hawthorne Road Council School, as a memorial was placed there and wondered if this school still stands.
Is there anyone able to help with his family.
He married an Ellen Taylor at St Matthews in Dec 1913 and had a daughter Elizabeth Alice, who I think married a George Weston in 1934. It's possible that Elizabeth & George had a daughter Ellen Weston born 1935. I've traced records that possibly have Ellen Weston marrying Stephen Maloney and having a couple of daughters. I am hopeful of someone knowing of this family, as I have no family members left, who are able to help.
Dave Bill.

Thank you Lily for the kind welcome,
I've been researching Ernest for two years now, but's its only within the last couple of weeks that I've discovered his whereabouts in France and I've also been lucky to find an image of Ernest, with the very kind help from the staff at Crosby Library.
One piece of information that I forgot to mention is that Ernests' widow Ellen, remarried on 31 July 1920 at St Matthews, Bootle to a Hugh Frankland, therefore maybe a Frankland family with some knowledge.
Dave.

Hi Dave I am not sure if you are aware that Ernest's younger brother Harry also joined the colours serving with the 6th Kings Liverpool Regiment and saw service in also in France. He was wounded (GSW to his left hand) and had a finger amputated, he did survive and was awarded a small pension. I can get copies of his WW1 papers if you would like them. If you have no luck with Ernest's wife or child, he was 1 of 7 siblings and we could follow their lines if needed.
Cheers

Thanks Lily,
I've seen his brothers war records and it seems to me that news of Ernest, got back to Liverpool pretty quickly. Ernest died on the 16 August and his brother enlisted five days later, albeit into a different battalion. Ernests' battalion, The 13th had already experienced two major battles on the Somme and Ernest fell during The Fourth Attack on Guillemont.
