Greetings to all my friends in Bootle and Merseyside and Australia of course!!!
I wonder if anyone can prove to me that there was a Liverpool Pilot named
ROBERT WALKER his active life would be circa 1812 - 1842 in Liverpool.

I have been unable to find Robert Walker the Pilot.. Instead I think he was Robert
Griffiths b 1795 and died in 1842. I believe his daughter Ellen as second/third
marriage when she married George Enslow in 1850 (St.Peters) put her father
down as GEORGE WALKER PILOT.

Any suggestion most welcome, I have been working on this for eight years.
Thanking in anticipation. Joe Walker in Texas.

I am not sure if the actual church record can be looked up in Liverpool for you but I am sure the other 'Genies' will know. It will be easier to work with a copy of the actual certificate. Back Later

Hi Joe,

The marriage is on lancashire online parish clerks

Marriage: 5 Nov 1850 St Peter, Liverpool, Lancashire, England
George Enslow - Full, Mariner, Widower, Denison St
Ellen Walker - (X), Full, Widow, Denison St
Groom's Father: John Enslow, Farmer
Bride's Father: Robert Walker, Pilot
Witness: William Turner, (X); Elizabeth Watson
Married by Banns by: J. G. Headlam M. A. Curate
Register: Marriages 1850 - 1851, Page 146, Entry 292

I had a look in the 1821 directory and there was a Robert Walker listed as a Mariner. 44 Upper Harrington Street.

Just to let you know that on the wedding certificates the Children of Ellen Walker said....

Sarah Ann Walker (birth 1843/1844)said her father was Thomas Walker
James Walker (birth 1847/1848) ( My Great Grandfather) said his father was John Walker.

If the #2 husband was a John Thomas Walker then Ellen Walker most likely could have been
Ellen Griffiths, as I mentioned previously.
Later I will present my facts that both Ellen Griffiths and Ellen Walker lived in all the same Roads in Liverpool, but only
Ellen Griffiths shows up in the 1841 Census with her father Robert Griffiths PILOT.

I have been in touch with the Liverpool Museum and there was no person names Robert Walker,
who was a Liverpool Pilot. .
Ellen's children were given the name Walker- Sarah Ann Walker and James Walker
so possibly then Ellen Griffiths must have had children with a Thomas/John Walker. :D

Robyn: Sorry, Unfortunately a Master of a ship is quite different of being a Liverpool Mersey Pilot.

Dear Jan, That's just what I was thinking! Do you think there is anyway in Liverpool to see the original marriage records?
Kind Regards, Joe Walker in Texas
