Kathy - You have more determination than I if you can make it to
Christmas without dipping into that lovely box of chocs, especially
with your name on same, no less!! :D
I received this from my nephew in the mail to-day and couldn't
resist especially as the packaging was torn, enabling me to look
at part of the contents!! (Customs, I fear.) what a lovely surprise,
never even knew it was available.....

Does it count that we will not "Play" the game until Christmas Day!! :D

Me too Jean, would love to know the names on the board. What a great gift I am going to check it out on line and see how much it is. I hope it is not all about soccer. My husband and son live sleep and eat football so I do not fancy a soccer boardgame in the house!!!!!

Love the Christmas photos you posted, Jean - here is mine
for All on this Link...................

Lew and I were doing some Christmas food shopping yesterday and I couldn't resist purchasing
this!! Have only seen them like that in California........................

Image

There are instructions on the label that you rinse, dry and brush olive oil w/ seasonings
over the whole thing and bake in the oven on a cookie sheet! I was just going to cut them off individually,
so I'm going to try it! :D :D

Happy Christmas to all those who share what I think of as "Mrs Bootle's Dairy". Thanks for the photos and goss throughout the year.
Do you realise that this has been running for almost 8 years? Just shows what a good topic it is! Thank you Robyn for starting a great thread and a lovely tribute to Marielou. xx

I have been thinking about Robyn, x - hope everything is all right as there
hasn't been any postings from her in quite a while. She was such a great
help to me when I was experiencing that dreaded vertigo and I love to hear what
she is up to in her line dancing!!
Is anyone in contact with her?

Hope Everyone had a wonderful Christmas!!

Tina, hope your mate managed to get the Brussel Sprouts without
injury!! :D

Had a really fun time at Janine & Mark's. The table looked lovely
and the Brit traditions were all there i.e: Crackers, Trifle and
Christmas Cake.

Image

Janine served a lovely drink, each glass had
two cubes of pineapple with a sprig of Rosemary which
you crush together in the glass and then you add the main ingredient,
"Vodka!" :D and fill it up with Ginger Ale & Ice. It really was
delicious.

Well, we now have 10 inches of the white stuff
and it is still coming down but not anywhere like this morning.
Janine & Mark came over and Mark cleared the pathway and
my car, stayed for lunch and when leaving I asked him if he
would be back again tomorrow to repeat the process, haha!!
He also put a lot of the Christmas decorations back in the Loft
which was indeed a great help!!
Image

I was out early to get a few photos that had no car tracks in the road!
It helped that it was a Saturday so I guess most were sleeping in! :D

Image

Lew stuck a ruler into the snow on the table on the patio when it was about
6 inches. As you can see it is steadily increasing. I have just looked out
at it now and only 1 inch of the ruler is left !! I will take another photo when
it becomes barely visible!! Never had snow like this before!

Stay warm and safe.

:D :D Lily - When I was taking the photos it was 7:00 a.m. as I wanted to
take them before there were car tracks on the snow and most people were still in bed
with it being Saturday!! However, thinking about it, there are no young children
around - only when the various Grandchildren come to visit their Grandparents! :(

It is an older type neighborhood, children have all been raised, grown and/or married
with homes of their own. We have lived here for 30 years and others have lived here
longer!

:D :D :D Can just image the two of you!! - I just like to walk or plough through it while
taking photos!!! Finally warming up to-day and it is all gradually melting.
This is indeed an early snow for us, we usually get it in February so
looking forward to more - NOT!! :D

Jean & Elaine - Here is the best I could do taking a photo of the Monopoly Board.
It was all to do with Liverpool and not Football (You will be glad to know, Elaine :D )
Hope you can read the Street names,I enlarged it as large as it would go! :D

Thanks Patricia. My daughter is getting married in October in Italy. Many family members from Liverpool will be coming so I am going to ask my sister to buy me the Monopoly and bring it to the wedding. I will forward your pictures to ensure she gets the right one! Thanks again

Some sad news to share with you ladies. One or two of you know that my kid brother's partner has been battling pancreatic cancer for the last 2 years. Sad to say she lost her fight this week. The end came very suddenly and my bro doesn't know what's hit him. I can't decide whether it felt worse to have a brother pass away (as I've done 3 times) or watch a brother's pain as he loses his soulmate.

Bee,
So sorry to hear your sad news. No wise words, or words of comfort to give, except I and others will be thinking of you and your family.

My husband's sister died last November, she was the same age as me, was one of my bridesmaids; she and her family had holidayed with us many times. She is constantly in our thoughts; I often go to pick up the phone to chat to her.......................

Bee - I am so very sorry to read your sad news. Sending sincere condolences
to both you and your brother. xx
I believe we have reached an age that this is becoming a common
occurrence, I too, have lost a beloved older brother a few years ago but
still miss him terribly and now my wonderful cousin, David, has sadly passed
unexpectedly, two weeks ago. He lived in Thornton and was several years
younger than I.
I value a saying that I read somewhere that one should: "Enjoy every day that is
given us, as one never knows what tomorrow will bring!"

Hi Bee, thanks for sharing your sad news, it's good healing to share your pain with friends. Yes you are so right Patricia, the longer we live the more losses we go through. We just have to grab each day as it comes. Please say to your brother Bee we are all thinking of him and may she rest peacefully as she continues her journey. Tina xx

Glen, Patricia and Tina thank you so much for your kind and supportive words. I'll pass your condolences on to my brother. I'm ok, Mary only came into his life 15 years ago so unlike my other sisters in law I haven't grown up with her. I truly believe that it was a release from such a devastating disease. My pain is all for Rob. they are/were both only 63. My two brothers who have died in recent years were 76 and 81 and somehow that felt easier to accept. But yes girls you are right it does make one resolve to grab life and live it.
Glen, I know exactly what you mean about picking up the phone to chat to your sis in law. My oldest sister in law married my brother when I was only about 6 so I can't remember a time without her in my life. She really was my "other mother". It's 11 years since she passed away and I still walk around M & S(her favourite shop) spotting clothes I want to tell her to get.
