It's the year 1887.

And you have left home.

First time away from the family and you are aged 21.

You find a property in Formby, close to the woods and trees near the beach not that far way away from Bootle where all your family live.

All is well until the landlords wife turns up.

She is not happy. She tappity taps on the window demanding more rent money... Spooky lady.

Mark Knopfler is releasing a charity single with a galaxy of guitar heroes.

He got Sir Peter Blake to do a "Pepper" collage. :)

The single is "Going Home" - the theme from the film "Local Hero"' in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

As a devout fan of Muriel Young and the 5 O'Clock Club, I'm truly saddened that the guitar great Bert Weedon wasn't included.

Mack, I would'nt be sure it's rent money she is after! Right out of a horror book, right up my street!

Dan, brilliant picture! love it, I am sure the single will do well, and for such a good cause too. Burt Weedon, long time since I have heard his name.

Great picture of Paul McCartney. I went to the same primary school as Paul. It was called Joseph Williams Primary School
on Sunnyfield Road, on Belle Vale prefab estate. Paul was 2 years ahead of me, His brother Michael, later known as being a
member of The Scaffold, was in the same class as me up to the Summer of 1955, when 8 of us passed the " Scholarship ",
Michael went to Liverpool Institute, me and the other 2 lads went to The Holt Grammar School at Queens Drive near Childwall
Fiveways. The four girls went to Childwall Valley High School. Seems like yesterday. :D Our Primary School teachers were
Mr Wallard ad Mr Spiller. It would be interesting to know if any of the regulars on here went to the same primary school.

Cheers, Ray.

The photo was up for sale at Bonhams December 16 2009. Estimate £400-600.

Notes.

Paul McCartney: a school photograph,
a black and white print, the reverse inscribed in ballpoint Joseph Williams School Belle Vale Childwall 1953 and indistinctly signed by the teacher, J. G. Walland,
Paul seen 4th from left, back row, 9 x 14cm (3½ x 5½in)
Footnotes
This would probably have been taken around Paul's 11th birthday, prior to him leaving this primary school to go to the Liverpool Institute.

The fish and pelican photo is like a optical illusion, to me anyway, it looks like another head is appearing from it's mouth! hope it is not just me seeing things!

Oh those trusting eyes the poor little thing has for his keeper, bless.
