Good luck to Harry & Meghan but is it really so news worthy that the BBC uses half the main 6 o’clock news on this item.
The rolling news channels are full of it as well, there’s no escape  Ken

My wife has told me to stop moaning about it, there must be more important stuff going on around the world than this. I hope we don’t get it until spring next year. :x
Cheers Joe.

I don’t think that at all Henry. He’s a good lad who has served his Country and does outstanding charity work. My point was the overkill from the BBC etc about his Engagement.

I read that the Royal Family will pay for the wedding and reception. The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage which is part of Kensington Palace estate.
The cottage is 2 bedroom formerly the home of William & Kate.

Who would want a President when we have our glorious Royal Family. I don`t know but I am guessing that the income they generate far outweighs the costs involved.

Correct Keith. You saw the crowds in London this week. The Royal Family brand is a big part of why high spending tourists flock to London/UK. Hotels, restaurants, taxis etc all benefit from that not to mention how many jobs in the industry it underwrites. K

Well, the best of having a President is that they are only in there
for FOUR years before another election when one can vote
for a change or not, as the case may be - can't wait for the next
election

Ken - He is beyond description. He should be impeached
but whether it will happen or not we will just have to wait
and see. I'm certain he will be hit with a lot of "Harassment"
actions once he is out of office.

That's the best of our Bootle forum is that we can debate all topics as we cannot all the time agree to other persons feelings and it is a choice of if you want to debate or not to A free choice and at the end we are all still friends and help each other if we can :P

IMHO, Prince Harry, who VOLUNTEERED to put his life on the line for his/our country is to be applauded.Through his actions in combat, he saved the lives of many a mothers son.G-d save the queen. As I have stated, this is only my humble opinion and not intended to provoke an argument.

Henry & John, I have fairly mixed feelings about the royal family but must say that the older the Queen gets the greater becomes my admiration for her.
Have you ever considered that with her massive personal wealth she could very easily afford to retire and keep her family in fabulous luxury without any of them ever having to perform a single days work? Personally I was happy to retire before I was eligible for my NIRP as I'm sure were very many others on the Forum. This lady continues to do her duty 30 years after the rest of us are happy to put up our feet!

Or are you suggesting that she gives up all of her personal/inherited property? When i pop off I intend to leave all I've worked for to my grandchildren; don't we all? Why should she or her fore bearers be any different?

Henry, get rid of Royalty and you will end up with somebody like Trump. Cost of the Royal Family to the general public must be pennies per person per person. Not wishing to be personal but I think they have most probably done more for the UK than you have

I'm ambivalent about the Royalty, however I did take the Queen's shilling, thirty odd years ago, so it would be hypocritical of me to deride them.

I do admire and respect the Queen, but I wouldn't change places with any of the Royal Family. Imagine living your life, planned to the nth degree?

I think that once the Queen and Prince Philip dies, the Royal Family will implode, as there will be no one with the strength and fortitude, that the Queen possesses, to keep them in line.
