Machine gun posts.

Postby shadow » Sun Oct 22, 2017 10:40 am

I was travelling along the A49 New Chester Road and seen two machine gun posts on opposite side of the road. Would anybody be able to give me information on this. I believe they have been there since the second world war .

Well people it seems nobody on the Forum knows anything about these machine gun posts. Does anybody know where I may find information on the posts.
Thanks all.

Shadow, if you type in "pill box new Chester road", in the top bar, it brings up websites with those words in. I did it and got these results. If you don't know, its called googling or a Google search. :)

If you look at the positioning of the pill boxes, they guard an important intersection, which connects the river Mersey roads. There is some sort of canal from the Mersey, which dissects the New Chester Road the pill boxes sit atop the bridge over it.

I’m sure there were a couple of them on the canal bridge on Dunnings Bridge Road just past Scott's bakery in the 1950s :?:
