Six degrees of separation

Postby filsgreen » Tue Jul 25, 2017 10:57 pm

May I suggest yet another quiz, of sorts?

I'll suggest two things and you have to explain the path I took to get there. It can't be anymore than six people or things, but it doesn't have to be six.

Ok I'll suggest the song "Which way you goin' Billy" to Lulu. Happy thinking; I hope it makes sense :D

Ok guys, I'll show you this one and then someone else can set one, if you want to.

So there was Which way you going, Billy, sung by the poppy family. The poppy family were Terry and Susan Jacks. Terry Jack's sang If you go away, a song written by Jacques Brel. Jacques Brel also wrote Amsterdam, which was covered by David Bowie, the b side of the 1974 hit, Sorrow. And finally, we get to Lulu, who covered the David Bowie song, The man who sold the world, in the same year. Phew. :)

Phil, that's just too hard!
Nearest I'd get to six degrees of separation would be the 3 Degrees singing When Will I See You Again twice!

Yes, Bee. The consensus in the Cat & Fiddle this evening, was that the question was too hard. :)

6 degrees of Kevin Bacon is easier. That's where someone names an actor/movie and it has to link to Kevin Bacon in 6 or fewer steps. He's been in so many movies it's a bit if a Hollywood standing joke apparently.

Thanks for having a go, Shelagh. I've made the connection, but it only took one. Natalie wood was in Hart to Hart with Cesar Romero who played the Joker?

Phil..you are correct in saying that there is a connection between Natalie Wood and the Joker..but as Natalie only made a cameo appearance in Hart To Hart and Cesar Romero appeared just once in the programme..I wouldn't have set the question in that way!!

Will explain;
Natalie Wood - The Joker

Natalie Wood starred in "Splendour In The Grass"
Warren Beatty starred in "Splendour In The Grass"
Sister of Warren Beatty is Shirley MacLain.
Shirley MacLain starred in "Terms Of Endearment"
Jack Nicholson starred in "Terms Of Endearment"
Jack Nicholson played The Joker in "Batman" :D

Tony Curtis also starred in Taras Bulba.

Shelagh without the Tony Curtis step I would never have got it. Never heard of Taras Bulba :?

When setting this I'm not sure if films, tv shows etc are counted as a step or is it just the person who appeared in them?

Here goes with get from MIKE MCCARTNEY to BASIL BRUSH
