OK so no takers.... I'll do as Shelagh did and give one of the steps as a clue....
As the first one won't give much help I'll give one from the middle which should hopefully give the key.....
MIKE Mc ........ ....... GERALD SCARFE .......... ............ BASIL BRUSH

DEREK FOWLDS - worked with BASIL BRUSH :?

FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA - (uncle of Nicolas Cage) was the director.

OK I've had a think and I've come up with this variation. :D

From all these pop acts can you find the connection?

Rod Stewart
ELO
Rolling Stones
Eagles
Mud

All I can come up with is Roy Wood and Ronnie Wood to connect 3 of the 5, sorry Phil. Perhaps time for a clue?

Lot easier than that, Bee. They have had songs that all have something in common.

Phil, this question has been up for over a week now, nobody any the wiser???
Time for some serious random guessing
One connection could be, the performers all had songs with word WOMAN mentioned in title?
Rod Stuart - Just like a woman..
Rolling Stones - Honky Tonk Woman..
ELO Sweet Talkin' Woman..
Eagles - Witchy Woman..
Mud - Show me your a woman..

Best I can come up with

Robert Donat was in 39 Steps
Hitchcock directed 39 Steps
Hitchcock also directed Marnie
Sean Connery starred in Marnie

Not 6 Steps but will it do?

Phil what were the body parts for your last one please? Stuck on ELO and unsure of Stones.

Yes Bernie, of course it will do, still got the answer right

ROBERT DONAT - STARRED IN 39 STEPS
ALFRED HITCHCOCK - DIRECTOR OF 39 STEPS
ALFRED HITCHCOCK - ALSO DIRECTOR OF THE BIRDS
TIPPY HEDREN - STARRED IN THE BIRDS
TIPPY HEDREN - ALSO STARRED IN MARNIE
SEAN CONNERY - STARRED IN MARNIE.

Hitchcock director of three good movies - in my opinion :)

Your turn Bernie!

As the last one finished with Sean Connery, let's go from him to the Girl From Uncle in 6 steps

This one is dying on its ar$e so I'll put it out of its misery...

Sean Connery's last (proper) Bond movie was Diamonds Are Forever
His co-star in that move was Jill St John
Jill St John is married to Robert Wagner
Robert Wagner was in Hart to Hart (and it was "moidah")
His co-star in H2H was Stefanie Powers...
...who played April Dancer, the Girl From UNCLE in the series of the same name.

Someone else have a go please

Have to agree, Phil..did attempt the last question, but could only manage five steps..

Sean Connery - James Bond
James Bond - Roger Moore
Roger Moore - Escape To Athena
Stefanie Powers - Escape To Athena
Stefanie Powers - Girl From Uncle!

Easier quizzes for some of us next time please
