Ta Bern,
Here's one from the 80s; TOTAL NOVICES....... there are 2 possible answers (both have same title but different songs and singers); I'll accept either...

Can't tie this in with your latest clues (gorra and rushin) Phil but how about Prince and fate fit with;
WHATEVER WILL BE WILL BE (DORIS DAY)???

Fate and Prince..could also fit other suggested titles..
WHEEL OF FORTUNE - KAY STARR (for instance)
FATE = Fortune
PRINCE = Jamie STARR a pseudonym used when songwriting..
RUSHIN = Russian (Roulette - Wheel)

B'Gosh and B'Gorra wouldn't know what to do with this clue :?

Gordon Bennet, Shelagh, this is classic you. :D You're not a newcomer to my way of thinking. You'll dance around the room and be in nirvana, when you get it.

I must admit, Shelagh the first clue may not have been enough and too vague. You're a princess at these teasers and your classical training at cryptic clues will help you figor it out :)

Try; DIANA -PAUL ANKA?
A DREAM IS A WISH IN YOUR HEART - LLENE WOODS?
Could even be the score from the Disney film??

On the wrong track Shelagh, most of what I've written has a meaning. For example I would not have the temerity to take umbrage at you for not getting the answer, by exclaiming an archaic term like "Gordon Bennett".........

Shelagh, you have to ask yourself, why would I write that? How many Gordons or Bennets do you know, which would be relevant to a 50's song?

You're on the right track with the singer, Shelagh. I don't think you know the composer of the music of the song, but you've probably seen the film. All you have to do is find two synonyms and you'll have the song :D

Sorry Bernie, it was Shelagh who got it. The song music was based on the Polotsvian dances, which is from Prince Igor by Borodin. Newcomer is stranger and Nirvana is paradise. Gordon Bennet was a clue for Tony Bennet. The contraction gorra was prefixed by I, to give Igor. So you had to know that fate is another word for kismet, which was capitalised to give the name of the film where the song came from and the prince was a reference to Prince Igor. Clear as mud? :D :D As I've said if you haven't seen the film or know the classical music piece, you're snookered. :D

Gordon Bennett, Phil :)
Complication started with first clue, had no idea what was coming next.
Didn't realise clues were about a film :lol:
Nirvana and Russian, two good clues, only two I felt sure about!
Mr Gordon Bennett finally came good, once the names had separated :roll:
But how we got from fate or Prince to find the answer, I'll never know :lol:

Actually Phil, this would have been a really good question, very good clues..but only for people acquainted with the film :wink:

Next question; very easy :)

YOU MAY HAVE BEEN THINKING THIS ALL DAY - SIXTIES!

Shelagh, the fate clue is another word for Kismet, which is a 50's film that the song came from. To reinforce that, the prince is, prince Igor, which was the title of the opera, that Borodin wrote. Polotsvian dances, was part of the opera of which the song was based on. Any clearer?   :D :D

Yes thank you, Phil, all became clear right away, once title and film found, clues fitted nicely into place :)
Point I was making...without knowing about the film/Opera, song title would have been so difficult to find..that's all :)
