Yes Bill, thanks from me too for another taxing set and yes I did learn about Christoph Waltz's many awards when I googled. I obviously don't take enough notice of the credits at the end of films

Let's give Bill a chance at joining the gang and answering some for a change - although I don't think they're too challenging.
All musicians/singers.
1. Sounds like a dull baker
2. Trust a Hoover
3. Does Worth Junior wear supermarket clobber?
4. Weigh down Pegg’s alien
5. Is the wise man’s mate hard to handle?
6. More reasons to exercise
7. Voice of a literary classic
8. No marks on our soldier
9. Is this rodent Bowie’s brother?
10. Lots of applause at old music venue

Thanks Bernie, it's good to see someone different setting the clues. I've been out most of the day, and playing bowls this evening, so not had much time to study them.
Just got 7. I think. TOM JONES

Good cryptic's Bernie..and very well done, Bill, all solved so quickly
Not sure, but a couple of guesses,,
No 1. Thinking Matt Munro, or James Blunt?
No 4. Weigh and Pegg's? could be a diamond plated pegboard..alien - Neil
Try Neil Diamond??
No 6. (don't laugh) Chubby Checker

Bernie..don't ask..reasoning differs from the norm
No1. Sounds like a dull baker - dull = matt - baker - bun-row sounds like Munro = Matt Munro
Second being, the name James - from chef/baker "James Martin" (soon to be judge on Great British bake off) followed by word dull - blunt = James Blunt
Not sure which is correct.. but will opt for the wonderful Matt Munro

Matt Monro is right for number 1.
Matt = dull
baker (sorry, should have been a capital B) refers to Norma Jean Baker aka Marilyn Monroe.
Number 6 is still standing as no right answers on that yet - 4 and 9 still alive too.

Best I can come up with are probably wrong but the reasoning may help others ..
9. Mick Jones (Mickey Mouse +David Jones' brother
and
4. Eric Paul (weigh down = Burden = Burdon = Eric and Simon Pegg's alien is Paul

Hi Bee, good answers...couldn't work out the Pegg's connection
No 9. Thinking maybe...Ziggy Stardust for this one, rodent could be a chipmunk
Try - ALVIN STARDUST??

Thanks for those Bernie, it was a nice change to be able to have a go.
Congratulations to Bee & Shelagh for finishing them off. I would not have got the last two, as I have no idea who Simon Pegg or his alien Paul are. I don't watch much television and would not have known the connection between Morrisons & more reasons(sad life I have
).
Thanks again Bernie
