I've copied 'em over from previous page to make it easier, and added all correct answers given so far (other previous guesses all being wrong)

1. Swifts street leaves something for the family - Viola Wills (Bee - ably assisted by Shelagh)
2. Possibly run a mission from DC’s old patch?
3. Early bird fled into whirlpool - Eddie Cochran (Bee)
4. Does he attend Weight Watchers on the Bank Holiday? - Slim Whitman (Shelagh)
5. Shaky loses an alien but finds cover - Ricky Valance (Bill)
6. Breaking news! Wood in the water! - Justin Timberlake (Lily)
7. Crazy about the girl - Madonna (Bee)
8. Used to access Sefton Park digs? Alicia Keys (Bee)
9. Clergyman in long frock? - Maxi Priest (Bill)
10. Crouching, he spoke of alias - Neil Sedaka (Shelagh)

Well done folks - keep it up.

Bernie, I'll have a go at 5.

Shaky = rickety. - loses an alien(et) = Ricky
Finds a cover = Valance

Answer = Ricky Valance?

i do hope you're right Bill, it'll stop me worrating away at this one - nearest I could get was a (purely imaginary) character named Svens Lee

Bee, I hope so too. I was like you and couldn't get Shakin Stevens out of my mind.
Having the same trouble with 1.
I can't get James Taylor out of my mind (Taylor Swift & James Street) but I can't see where the rest of the clue fits in.
Leaves something to the family(Will) is the only thing I can think of

My take on number 1 has been swift street = FLEET
leaves something for the family= wills son = WILSON
another imaginary character WILSON FLEET
will continue to cogitate whilst I do the ironing!

Bernie I'll have a guess at 2.

2. Manhattan Transfer?

DC comics were originally published in Manhattan before transferring to New York

(No ironing Bee :D but trying to sort out complicated car insurance claim, same time as cryptic's

A very tentative stab at No 1..

Lots of Wilson's, but streets very limited :?

WILSON PICKETT (flying pickets sounding swift) but still no street!

(Might go back to Sefton Park question instead))

Will do Bernie..can do without all the Shenanegans :D

Returning to Sefton Park..
still coming up with Emerson, Lake and Palmer!
Greg Lake could be useful in accessing Sefton Park digs (Palm house) Palm-er (I think)
No 8. GREG LAKE??

Flippin' 'eck Bern your last post had my mind racing thinking of musicians named Judge...... then I remembered that it's Newsham park for judges' digs!
When you dismissed Wilson do we take it Fleet was also irrelevant for #1?

Not a serious effort Bern but it made me giggle when I thought of it .. types of digs in Sefton Park which has always been famed for the number of rabbits living there...what would they use to access their digs ....'andy Burrows... ok I'll get me coat......

Bernie..have now completed taxi drivers Knowledge test for Liverpool city :D
All I could come up with was 'Shaw Street'
No 1. SANDIE SHAW??

Still in Sefton Park (freezing) potholes are the only digs to be seen :) many recently mended, but still a few to be fixed!
Don't know of any singers called Pothole :D so have to go with the only Potts I know :?
No 8. PAUL POTTS??

To help you out I've added a letter to clue number 1.
Put that with my other clue on that one and hopefully should lead you up the right street.

For 8, if the Sefton Park thing is drawing a blank have a look at the other half of the clue.

Good clues Bernie :)
Could the added (s) be Swifts pub, corner of Viola street?

Try for the band... VIOLA BEACH for no 1?

No 8. DAVID GATES?

As an in-off Shelagh's suggestion for #1 - don't know the Shakspearean end of Bootle - I'll have a go with VIOLA WILLS?

Well done Bee, just googled the name as I have never heard of her. I don't know O'Neil's either, so their was nothing down for me with Bernie's clue, very good though it was, once you know the answer.
I see her hit record was 'Gonna get along without ya now'
Patience & Prudence were the only ones I knew that had a hit with that one. I suppose it's an age thing :( :(

Shelagh we need to await Bernie's confirmation but if right I'd never have got it without your input - seem to recall a shop in Walton Road called Swifts....I'd have spent too long working on Walton :(

Bill who what or where is O'Neill's.... ??
Know how you feel about Viola Wills; I felt much the same about Ricky Valance; Mr Wki reminded me about Tell Laura I Love Her.

Bee, I have no idea myself who, what or where O'Neil's is. Must have been one of my many senior moments  must have had something on my mind at the time, meant to say Swifts

Good Work Bee, another one ticked off

Still bemused by 8. lots of ideas but none fitting cryptic

Nearest being - used to access = key, could that be short for Keith?
Park digs = sounding a bit like the King Richard dig (minus word Sefton)
Not the answer you're looking for... but nearest I can come up with!!
Very speculative guess, KEITH RICHARD'S :)

All hints welcome :)

thank goodness for that Bill; thought I'd missed a valuable hint there

Hurray I've been wracking my brains trying to remember the name of a hotel in the Sefton Park area where I attended a wedding doo a good few years ago....Eurika it's the Alicia!
So #8 ALICIA KEYS!
