Well done Shelagh, Zachary Scott it is.
I knew that last clue would make it too easy, but it needed to go.

Yes Bill, thanks for another lot. I'll have a think throughout the morning but knee jerk for #10 is PADDY MCGUINESS, based only on Pad=house/home, Mc = Scottosh, Ness=rocky outcrop(well that's what it means on the Wirral).

Well done Bee.
#1 & 9 both correct.
I can see you lot are getting too used to my clues now. I will have to try and do something about that. :?:

I'm sorry Bee I missed your answer to #10 before, but I am sorry it is incorrect. ( I'm not sorry really) :) :)

Nice one Shelagh, the nearest I got was Willie Hotpoint

And Bill
I can see you lot are getting too used to my clues now. I will have to try and do something about that.
the time for those threats is when ONE person gets all of the answers in a short time... if you look at it as though it's a crossword we were each doing individually we'd all be getting nowhere...... and not very fast!. Think the "degree of difficulty" is just right thanks.

Just 3 left now

7. The chap with no clothes on comes after having a hot place in South Yorkshire.

8. Sounds like the fishy part gets approval afterwards.

10. Little house on the Scottish cliff.

Hi Bee, congratulations, Shelley Berman is correct.
I must sincerely apologise for my error. When I wrote down the list of actors I was going to use for clues,I inadvertently wrote down Shelly Berman and never noticed my mistake. Well I did say I was going to make them harder didn't I.
You did an excellent job getting it anyway.

Well it looks like #8's got us beat gang, time for teamwork?

8. Sounds like the fishy part gets approval afterwards.

breaking it down;
sounds like the fishy part...... gill/fin/scale or could it be jaws/wanda/dory
gets.............................................gets/has
approval......................................yes/eye/I/clap
afterwards...................................later/post
or is "gets approval afterwards" all one clause?.....applauded

...and Bill being Bill, I'm sure that his comment to me after the Albert Finney guess is something of a clue...

You deserve a smacked bottom for that answer.

Bee..thought you definitely had it with that answer..and so the fishy question remains!
So many variables with words FISHY and APPROVAL..DESERVE has now crept into the equation :) and maybe BOTTOM also!
This actor could be anyone..including BRIAN BLESSED (fishy bit..BRILL from BRI-AN...APPROVAL - BLESS- ED)

DESERVE - could be justice...JAMES ROBERTSON JUSTICE..( fishy part ROE from ROBERTSON...JUSTICE - DESERVE)

How many more answers before this fishy question is solved

Yes Shelagh. I thought I had it too :(
Seems we need to add JUSTICE/ REWARD/DUES to the "brainstorming" suggestions and if we include parts of fish names.. Ra(y), Lin(g) etc......

8. Sounds like the fishy part gets approval afterwards.

breaking it down;

sounds like the fishy part...... gill/fin/scale or could it be jaws/wanda/dory or Ray/Lin/
gets.............................................gets/has
approval......................................yes/eye/I/clap
afterwards...................................later/post/bottom/back(side)
or is "gets approval afterwards" all one clause?.....applauded/ deserve/dessert/justice/reward

Hi folks, still in glorious Whitby.
It was a very tenuous clue about a smacked bottom.
What you get if you get a smacked bottom too often.
