Thanks for extra clue Bill, now have something to work with for 10 :D

Going to test the water here, very 'dusty bin' type answer for No 2
SIR BOB GELDOF..

SWISS SOUND = BOB as in Bobsleigh - a NIGHT = Knight - GELDOF = Bob Gelled Off at the hairdressers..work that one out if you can

3. Could be a little bird got cover in the north.
4. Sounds like the searcher found the princess asking her chaps if they were up for it.
5. The tree was returned with the TVs programme in it and could it be a rider came after it.
6. Folk had this to get fantasy junction with thanks going to Kings in the east.
7. The golfer would hope he could do this with the bunker beneath the pine. - Carrie Underwood
8. A female before the measurement in the centre of the backside.

Thanks Bern.
Bill, we're obviously finding this lot a tad challenging so may i ask for a bit of clarification please.
They're all music personalities but you say not all pop singers; do we take this to mean that answers may include well known music professionals such as producers, managers, DJs etc (e.g. Simon Cowell, George Martin) or are they all performers of music but not just pop music (e.g. Simon Rattle, Pavarotti et al).

Hi Bee, there are no producers, djs etc. You are correct with the likes of Simon Rattle, Pavarotti and suchlike.
I am delighted I have actually come up with some clues which are foxing you clever lot :D
As usual the answers are all there in the clues, though a couple may not be quite as well known as the others.

Best of luck Bill

That's all the help you are getting for now :)

Thanks for that Bill will have a go at #2 with BERNIE NOLAN though I don't hold much hope of being correct.
Reasoning is Bern in Switzerland and salon back with an N for north is a bit like nolan
or it could perhaps be The NOLAN SISTERS with the Swiss bit being to do with the sisters some how????

Today I'm considering a new theory...... Bill spent his absence at a secret camp where he was radicalised into becoming a Tormentor, a close relative to the Dementor of Harry Potter fame. His mission is to turn all who read his posts into brainless loonies suffering from sleep disturbances peopled by such musical geniuses as Dicky Hudson and Ellie Inch- Bumcrack ........

before I get off to yet another school sports day I'll have a go a
t #10 based on Bill's further hints that it's a current pop singer - JAMES ARTHUR

 You do have a way with words Bee
By the way..thought you were close with Hudson answer, wondered why you didn't pursue it, lots of possibilities with that one :)
Other conundrums rather confusing, but shorter ones are driving me mad...don't know any modern pop singers  six year old granddaughter gave me name of Miley Cyrus, had never heard of her until the other day
Should have this lot solved by Christmas - hopefully

Good morning folks, pleased to see everyone still guessing.
Sorry to say all recent answers are incorrect. I think I am going to have to give some extra clues before long.
I am very surprised nobody has got number #10 yet. I gave my wife the clue half an hour ago and she came up with the answer within 5minutes. It is a very recent pop star.
Shelagh If you have never heard of Miley Cyrus then you have no chance of getting this answer

Then there's the group "Kings Of Leon" (two brothers)
Yes...now getting with it Bill
