2. Take a posh sounding towel throw in the river before joining the race.

3. Understood the boy returned with three spots.

Well done Bernie, Anastacia it is, though I have a sneaky suspicion you just got it from the Asia clue.

Get ..An...animal back = cat....continent = Asia
Get an animal back in the continent = An..As..tac..ia. = Anastacia

Dunno Bill, just came across them during search? Ian Hunter (mott the hoople) has a band called Rant..also found a Scottish folk group called Rant.
Took a guess, thinking they fitted in nicely "a bit of a tantrum RANT"
If you think this a naff answer, should see some of the others I've got written down

These seem to be proving a bit difficult, so a little help(not a lot) is called for.

2. Male 1980s

.4. Male. 50s / 60s

5. Male. Rap

6. Male. 70s

7. Group 70s/80s

8. Male. 60s

9. Male 60s

That's all you are getting for now :D :D

Obviously must be making them too difficult now, due to lack of attempts.

Hi Shelagh, that was a lucky guess, Eden Kane it is.

Courtaulds = Enka. Garden = Eden.....strange garden = edne( anagram)

Courtaulds with strange garden surrounding it = Ed..Enka...ne. Eden Kane

Well done (I think)

Bill,,,suspected 'strange garden' might be Eden straight away, but couldn't make the Courtaulds connection. knew it was known by something else, couldn't remember what
Had so many names for this cryptic, mostly anagrams, hardly any having relevance to Courtaulds, 'Grant' being the exception, (Company received many at one time)
Thanks for explanation, Bill!!
Time now, for other little conundrums

Gent =MAN

Altogether makes MANHATTANS

Bill, regarding 5. 'Have a bit of a tantrum'
Tantrum is the name of a rapper, is it coincidence or same name you have in mind?
