Such sad news yesterday with the loss of Gerry Marsden.

Ignoring my obvious love for YNWA, this has always been my favourite of his tunes.

RIP

Agree with you, Bernie, Paul Carrick also did a great version a few years ago.

Worth watching if only for the skills.
I bought this single at the record shop on Bridge Rd about 1969/70

Frankie Laine was always one of my favorite singers, and I always liked this one. Margaret and I used to have a sing song to Frankies CD when we were driving down to Exeter to see the grandkids

There have been about 300 views of this video, does anyone else find it as mesmerizing as i do? I have watched it about 6 times now. I think if Eva had been discovered before she died she would have held audiences spellbound.

Never knew Billy J Kramer was born in Bootle until I just saw it on Wiki.

This little ditty was top of the pops on this day in 1964

Surprised that you never knew that Bern. Shame that question didn't come up on our daily quiz 😁😁😁 Think he lives in Australia now.
Nice little ditty this.

Today the Virtual Pub Quiz on YouTube celebrates its 1st birthday - who'd have thought that would still be going now?

Not sure if any BBs do the quiz , but if you do, do you leave YouTube music running on autoplay afterwards and see what nuggets it presents?

We do - and that's how we discovered this belter from Billy Joel which, pretty much, turned into our lockdown anthem.

Hard to believe I'd missed that one for all these years!

Here’s an oldie from the 50s with lyrics you can understand, not like some of the modern music.

A beautiful love song from Rod Stewart that is set in the aftermath of the 1916 Easter Rising in Dublin.

Happy Easter everyone.

Happy 70th birthday to Paul Carrack.

Ace, Squeeze, Mike & the Mechanics - not too shabby a CV.

This is my favourite of his solo hits - it just scraped into the top 40 in 1995.

Happy birthday Billy Swan - 79 today.

This catchy little ditty was a US chart topper in 1974 (#6 in UK).

We did Jay's Virtual Pub Quiz over the weekend and were both reminded of this fab tune from 1971 by the connections round of the quiz.

Whenever I hear this song it brings back a vivid memory of travelling down a country road in England on the way to visit relatives with the car radio on and suddenly this song was playing. I just love it!! Does anyone else have a "Special" song that brings back a vivid memory?

Thanks for the feedback - maybe you could start off with a song that brings back some "Happy" memories to begin with I
was hoping this particular request would bring some replies and memories to help sustain and invigorate this Thread! One can but hope!!

Ok Patricia, I'll start with a good song and good memory. I was standing at at the 52 bus stop by the post office on Hawthorne Road by Sefton Road with my mate and the record on the radio was "Swing your daddy" by Jim Gilstrap.

It was April 1975 and we were waiting for the bus up to his house in Sefton. We were both due to leave school in the June at 16 and neither of us had a job, but I had an interview in a factory at the top end of town.

I lived in Crosby by the duck pond at that time, so it would have took an age to get to work there, but at the time, I just wanted a job.

As it happened I never got the job and didnt start work till the October of 1975. However, I had good holidays in London, Wales and Cumbria throughout the summer. 😁

Just a thought though, Patricia, may be we should really start a separate thread for reminiscing?

Phil - Really enjoyed your post thanks for same. I also think your idea of staring a new Link for "Memories" would be a great too.
Do you think Mack could transfer what is posted so far to another Link?
