this is a photo of stevie morgan,me and stvies mate harold who has lived on rhodes for 15 or so years.
it was taken on international tourist day in the delightful of THEOLOGOS (rhodes).the whole village was blocked off and the square was full of tables and chairs.there was a proper greek band and all the ladies of the village wore traditional dress.
all the beer and wine was free along with soft drinks also pork and chicken souvlakis, grrek pastries and bread.
the mayor made speeches and thanked the sponsors and the band and the dances,he then read out the names of all the tourists staying locally.we all had to trek upto the top table to be given a goody bag(half bottle of ouzo, bar of olive soap, sesame cakes, pen, framed butterfly and a certificate of friendship).
we had a brilliant night, the music, food and dancing were top class.as for the wine and beer :D :D :D .

Ken - Great photo - glad you & your wife are enjoying your travels.

Have to agree, Shelagh, interesting and great pictures being posted!
Little confused regarding "sat-nav" thought at first you were referring to
the "Back Pack" for a long walk around the ship! :D Finally realized
it is what we call a "GPS "(Global Positioning System ) glad that
was sorted!! :D

Have to say, number 577 looking very colourful and neat, scarecrow adds a nice touch :)

nice ground Ken but in the middle of nowhere thought Brighton were very poor apart from a few little spells that said a draw was probably the right result, we need to get are act together as i would fancy Brighton to go down ,but its only early days hope everyone in India enjoyed the game .We left at 5-30 and i got home at 11. :D :D

i know paul.when i lived in sardinia i saw the same effect 6 or 7 times when the wind blew from the south.
the only problem there was the wind would drop and and all the sand would be deposited every where.
my white ford escort would turn red.graham.

some shots from the new nature reserve in LUNT by sefton church.
only open for two years but they have done a fantastic job in such a short time there is also an arcalogical dig there.the dig contains 3 of the oldest houses built in britain and has brought up loads of finds.
it was my first visit there and i was amazed at the wildlife there (i used to play around there when i was a kid when it was all fields).
there is a few small lakes and a couple of miles of reed beds plus plenty of open fields.there are a lot of hides with wooden seating for watching the birdis and the odd deer coming in to drink.plenty of car parking space and they just ask for a small donation to enter (£2).they only snag at the moment is there is no toilets yet.
its run by voulenteers who will tell you what birds are on the reserve at that time.it will only get better as time goes on.
i went to check out the place and only took a couple of lenses with me so i missed out on some great shots.
this is what i saw yesterday...7 kestrals,4 buzzards,canada geese,pink footed geese,blue tits,great tits,wrens(at least 30),tufted ducks,mallards,pheasants,brown legged partridge,moorhens,coots,a lovely flock of lapwings,common terns,lesser black backed gulls and at least 20 robins.
if you are needing the loo you can use the toilets in the punchbowl(2 minutes drive away).give it a go,you will not be disapointed, graham.
