First day at Senior school for eldest Grandchild, Georgia.
Unfortunately, a broken arm excludes the school dress uniform but the kilt looks nice albeit wearing it a month earlier than regulation.

Beautiful photo of Georgia, Ken, but oh! dear, that poor broken arm :(
I'm sure teachers will make allowances for her condition, Ken :)
Have a good first day Georgia :D

Ken - Lovely photo of your Granddaughter Georgia (unusual name)
Sorry about her broken arm and sincerely hope she is right handed;
however, I'm sure she has managed to devise ways and means to
manage. Wishing her a great school term.

Thanks Ladies, day one went fine.
The school is a C of E , Diocesan school with a Christian ethic. They have a strict uniform code which at this time should be a dress in a similar pattern to the kilt. The dress should be worn with black tights, neither of which Georgia can manage.
Despite my Daughter ( an ex pupil ) having an email exchange with the Head of Year prior to school he still phoned Georgia's Dad three times yesterday for an explanation as to why her uniform was not in code. Debs called an old friend who is now the Head of School and explained to her the difficulties Georgia would have wearing a brace with which the dress could not be worn or the difficulty of toileting wearing tights with a broken arm .
She responded about her male colleague " Stupid Man" :D Ken

Patricia, Georgia , her Dad wanted a boy, George  Thankfully it wasn't Mississippi!!!!
Yes , she is right handed. The biggest disappointment was that she was selected for the Senior Squad in our Swimming Club.

More great pix, thanks people.
And thanks once more Bobby for more pics of St Nics'. Brings back memories of many pleasant lunchtimes spent there with a butty and a book; a little oasis of peace in the middle of the busy business quarter. Also nice pics of Exchange flags - worked there in 69/70.

It's the 1970's

You are getting all your clobber ready for a big night out discussing with your mates what to wear like all us blokes regularly do.

Vest - check
Underpants - check

Geoff enters the room showing his new underpants. I'm not sure about the colour though, I also mention to Geoff that I'm not sure that jump suit is going to work for me tonight. Think I'll stick with my vest and new underpants.

Hmmm!! I need to dress to impress now.

OK! Think I'm sorted. I'm gonna rock tonight !!! :)

Lovely butterfly pic, Patricia, lots of them about lately, veriety of colour :)

Mac - undies, all so impressive  couldn't decide which set I would go for :?
White vest in centre - very attractive, blue long johns also very fetching, but washed out look of faded brown y-fronts and vest, a definite winner :D
Green Cardigan, also very stunning, I'm sure his mother would be proud

Good close up of statue, Bob, hadn't noticed it before :)

I used the Atlantic Tower as my base many times when returning up there. It used to be a Trust House Forte establishment which our company had a corporate deal with.
Knew the Pig well and the monument, just couldn't place it  Ken

Hi Shelagh the church is called The Temppeliaukio Church or easier name Church of the Rock or Rock Church :)
The only reason that I can spell it is I have the English language brochure about it on my knee in front of me
We then went on to see the Jean Sibelius monument in Toolo Hesinki
We were there nearly exactly 2 years ago then we went across the Gulf of Finland for 3 fantastic days in St Petersburg arriving just in
time for my 73rd birthday.

Morning Shelagh,
The Island fortress is Suomenlinna , roughly translated as Finnish Castle.
Thanks for the memories, you have covered all the worthwhile tourist visit spots in Helsinki. :D Ken

They mostly had red teeth from sucking Betel leaves and gobbing out the juice, even young girls did it. K

Thanks for extra info regarding name of Cathedral, Matt, think the wooden Cathedral in town centre may be Kamppi?
