I am positive that that house is 295 Knowsley Road. I was able to find the following on the tinternet:
A family called Gillies lived there, around 1911.

I was nearly right then. Got the crown right but not the date, doh. It would be interesting to found out the origins of the stone plaque. Who was A P.
Most houses only had these if the owners were prominent citizens. The Large house on Merton Road now known as abegale lodge nursing home, has some entwined letters over the doorway, and carved into the newell post at the foot of the stairs. The only other house with a turret like structure (that I know of anyway) is on the corner of Fernhill and Oxford Roads, and years ago thoses houses were owned by Bootle's own well to do.
So it would be interesting to know who this house was built for and what they did for a living.

Yes, Prospice it was Exeter Road, (the GPO Building). Half a Gold Star for you.
The 2nd one of course is The Strand, but I wonder who is the next shop to go. Was down there this morning and that part is deserted.

Hey Bernie, you've got the nine men standing around watching, you could have taken a picture of the man digging the hole.
