Hi to all can any one remember end of war the big get to-gether at
Bootle Stadium where the yanks had there base. the pub called the Hole in the wall.the singing and dancing with the locals.all the kids and mums and dads went. got any gum chum.remember it well.Vera.

Can recall the "Yanks" disembarking from train's at Bootle Station and being placed on buses to take them to several depot's around Liverpool, a great time to get gum, most boys had lots of chewee, the G.I's were great with sharing their candy.

the yanks ussed to go and collect there mail and stores from the railway sidings in marsh lane coal sidings in half track trucks all black lads they gave us gum and sweets whent with the local talent tookt hem to burtonwood air base brought them home as well, the food they had then was unbelievable tins of soup u pulled a pull ring on the bottom of the can and ithad a litle something inside which heated the soup,boneless chicken in jelly all 4 the korean war compo rations
