Hello,
I am new here and I am wondering if someone can help me.
I am searching for some information on the premises of 41 Bankhall Street. A relative passed away in 1962 and when I located his probate records he had this address for his will, however I believe this was a warehouse.
I have been unable to locate any records for this time period to tell me what the building was being used for, so I was hoping someone may know here.
Many Thanks,
Colleen

Hi Colleen,
Welcome to the site.
I don't know what was at 41 Bankhall Street in the 60's, but have a look at this thread, Bobhamo has put the details on from the 1938 Directory, 41-43 Mersey Wharfage Co.

Thank you all so much for your replies.
The tile warehouse makes a lot of sense - according to a trade directory for 1938 the relative was a tile maker!
The name for the chap was James Brinkley born 1905 in Ireland, his son was also James Brinkley born 1931 in Liverpool North.
Many thanks again for everything,
Colleen

Hi there,
Again, thanks for the replies - this is where the confusion began for this post because James appeared to have two addresses as the time of his death. Upon discovering one of them was his work address it helped to clear up that question but has thrown up another - why would his work address be on his probate record, rather than his home address!?

Hi Colleen,
I think that the Stanley Hospital address is probably where James died. I am not sure about the address on his will, it does say on the will otherwise James of 41 Bankhall Street, I have no idea what that means, it could be that it was more of an address he was known from with having a business there.
Do you have James's death cert? Just thought it would have an address on, and who the informant was.

Hi Jan,
I don't have his death cert unfortunately - I am assuming that perhaps he had a share in the business perhaps, or held a prominent position.
I am going to try get hold of the electoral records for his son and see where he was residing at the time and hope that sheds some light.
Thanks again,
Colleen

Hi there,
This could definitely have been a reason for his early death and I am going to order his death cert to check.
I contacted the Liverpool Records Office today but sadly there are no records that would show where James worked, and even if they were they said they would be subject to the 100 year disclosure period, so I am not able to prove this at the moment, but I may send for the will which I am sure will shine more light on matters.
Kind Regards,
Colleen
