Hairdressers with Perm Club

I remember my mother going to a hairdressers at the corner of Trinity Road by the Town Hall. She was in a perm club with other members of the family and all paid weekly into the club. Does any one else remember these clubs?

I remember my cousin running a perm club for a number of years and in 1965 she persuaded me to have one.
It was amazingly tight curls and someone nicknamed me "Woolly Bum" They said I had a head like a sheeps backside. Needless to say it was the one and only perm I ever had.

The hairdresser was in Kirkdale if my memory is correct.

Hi Doreen.....and the new blonde...
I was in a perm club and went to a hairdresser on
Seaforth Road and had my hair permed just like
it was called a 'Poodle Cut.'...about 1950..ish

Don't remember "Poodle Cut".

I had my long hair cut to look like Mitzi Gaynor in South Pacific. My mother was so angry. ha ha

Mack mine was even larger and tighter than yours and my mum did it with Amami (not even a perm) I was mortified

My Mum used to be in a perm club at a hairdresser; on Stanley Road, opposite the Kings Gardens. It was called "Gerties" (I think)
