Bob, We played early days on Orrell Pleasure ( Giro ) then Buckley Hill.
I can also remember playing behind Walton prison, somewhere up Fazakerly way against FPD and way across town against MD&HB which was one of my last games before “retiring” South. :D Ken

It is interesting to note that a number of Bootle lads are making names for themselves with Liverpool Football Club, thus following in the wake of Alf Hanson, the international who went to the Reds from Bedford Amateurs, and Cyril Done, who was with the 12th Bootle Boys Brigade. Three youngsters in Arthur Shepherd, Michael Hulligan and Jack Campbell all played with the Norwest club in the Bootle JOC League.

I and many others played on Orrell Pleasure before the Giro was built. Most of us are in our late 60s early 70s now. :D :D

Hiya ken, I remember playing on Orrell Pleasure against Warwick Bolam school when they beat us 22-0,   half of our team never turned up. So we had to ask some lads younger than us, to make up a team hence the drubbing.
Cheers Joe.

Hi Ken, not sure if you are joking or not because he is the only Everton player.
It is Ray Wilson.

Not sure any of my teams ever reached the upper echelons of the JOC , Bob.
Blessed Sac, Warbreck, Rockfield Utd.
We played against FPD, Borthwicks, MD&HB , all a bit vague now. Ken

My first ever game in the J.O.C was for the Bootle Corpy, I was 13/14 I went up there with my boots around my neck looking for a game. The Corpy were short so they asked me to play. I was a little whippet then and danced around the other team. I got asked to sign on but didn't take up the offer. :) my next game in the J.O.C was in the U21s for Litherland United, I was 17 teams I remember playing against in the J.O.C were. Bootle YMCA, F. P. D. Borthwicks, Pentagon, Ace, The Alex, and many more over the years.
